Benefits of Learning the Baritone Ukulele
As a type of miniature guitar, the baritone ukulele is the most logical instrument for small musicians to learn to play.
The tuning is identical to the guitar (only missing the low E and A strings) so that the children may have an easier transition once they have grown large enough to properly handle an acoustic guitar.
Comparing Strings of the Guitar and Baritone Ukulele
- The guitar strings are idetified as: 1-e, 2-B, 3-G, 4-D, 5-A, 6-E
- The ukulele strings are identified as: 1-e, 2-B, 3-G, 4-D
- The first four strings are tuned exactly the same which is why I teach the baritone ukulele. The instrument fits the student better, it is more durable, less expensive, and it has fewer strings to learn. Then once the student has grown large enough he/she will only have to learn two more strings to play the guitar.
